Great Scott
[ San Francisco Bay Area ]
Gritty squelchy breaks, trip-hop, and midtempo, usually drawing on a world music influence.
Scott has had lengthy and torrid relationship with electronic music. After having initially been turned onto it by the Chemical Brothers' album "Dig Your Own Hole," Scott has made it his life's mission to inject electronic tastiness within every possible waking moment - from making it, to DJing it, to hosting it, and promoting it. Scott's first major break, which involved radio, came in 2004, when he received an offer to manage and host "The MK Ultra Show," on KTRU, Houston - the city's most prolific live dj-mixed radio show, having been on the air since 1994, which airs every Friday night. Through that experience, he has interviewed and hosted artists including Hybrid, Junkie XL, and Infusion to name a few. Since then, his involvement in radio has expanded to hosting a show on NSB Radio - the largest online radio station for breaks music - and more recently founding Glitch.FM, a station that will focus on midtempo and glitch-hop music.
His second break, which involved performing, came in 2006 when he given a residency at the prestigious nightclub Tango, in Beijing, China - and has subsequently headlined there after his tenure. He has also been a re-occurring headliner with the notrious DefCon hacking convention in Las Vegas, as well as being involved in the more recent NSB Radio party and broadcast at the Winter Music Conference in Miami.
His final break, which involved production, came in 2008 - when he produced the "Bollywood" breaks hits, "Chai Overdose" and "Bollygraph Test," which became crowd and rotation favorites on a BBC Radio 1 show hosted by Bobby Friction and Nihal. From there, he has been working solo and in collaboration with the likes of Undecided and Romanian breaks all-star Mesmer, with Muti Music being his home-base for releasing his work.
