A transplant from New Orleans in 1996, Duane aka Native Intelligence has enjoyed San Francisco and all of its musical and visual inspiration for some time now. He originally came to California for a girl and would stay for the art. This city was to have a major influence on Duane`s future as it presented him to the underground electronic dance movement locally and around the world. Traveling extensively through Asia and later Mexico, Duane has played alongside so much great talent it would take up too much space to list! (seriously)
Duane met a great musical influence and sometimes production partner Todd Christenson aka B. Smiley in his first and only rock band in 1997. “Todd is a great friend and has a vault of worldly music he is happy to share. This has been a huge impact upon my knowledge and ear for good music”.
First and foremost Duane is a music lover who enjoys dancing ‘til the early hours next to powerful speakers. This is the foundation on which decisions are made behind the decks and in the studio (how executive!). In 2006 Duane was honored to be made a part of Rock It Science, a dj collective/event production company started by the talented Eric Sharp. Duane aka Native Intelligence is excited about the next step - the launch of the Rock It Science Laboratories label - as this will release his original tracks and remixes to the world. He also continues to experiment and create with the mastermind behind Sleevin Records, Simon Littlewood aka S.I.M.O. “Exquisite Alley,” Duane’s 2nd release with Sleevin, will be coming out in the Fall.
